This position in a special school is a key role and we are looking for someone with more than exemplary administration skills, you will also need emotional intelligence and a strong moral compass.

This is an opportunity to make a difference for families – sometimes the most vulnerable. You will need to be kind, positive and hard-working.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a co-operative, reliable “can do” attitude with good communication skills both on the telephone and in person which allows effective communication at all levels of the school.

They will:

    • Act as an ambassador for both the school and the leadership team in all matters, with the capacity to remain calm and to cope with the unexpected;
    • Manage access to the Headteacher, dealing with as many requests as possible independently and screening enquiries;
    • Assist with the organisation, planning and delivery of some school events;
    • Act as the eyes and ears of the Headteacher, being the first point of contact for visitors to the Headteacher;
    • Be patient, flexible, adaptable, meticulous and conscientious;
    • Liaise with tact and diplomacy with other school staff and others outside the school, particularly parents and the local community;
    • Be able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with complete tact and discretion.
